Brent Galloway - 2009 Graduate of The Delaware Area Career Center

I have always loved art ever since I was a little child. My freshman year of high school is when I really knew I wanted to do something with my creativity. A friend and I started a comic, which turned into us learning to create cartoons, and then websites, shirt designs, and so on. So I was self-taught for a little over two years before I was introduced to the Delaware Area Career Center. Once enrolled into Mr. Gallagan's  Interactive Media class, I knew I was in the right place! I was using my creativity, and learning exactly what I wanted to learn. It was really the best of both worlds for me and everyone else in my lab. To this day, I still believe that attending the Delaware Area Career Center was one of the best decisions of my life thus far.

Graduation was a hard thing to do. Everyone in our lab felt like one big family. So splitting up and going to different colleges was hard for all of us. I am currently attending Marion Technical College for my associates degree in Interactive Media. To be completely honest, I know that by attending DACC I was more that well prepared to enter my first college class at MTC. In regards to Interactive Media, I am still debating with myself if I should go for a bachelors.

It's been a dream of mine to own my own business, and  it is something currently in progress! A friend and I are working on a partnership business called IntrActv. We do freelance design work. I can't wait to be finished with school and be able to devote all of my time to that. I have a lot of business ideas and dreams rattling around, but I won't go into that.

Nicole Thompson - Clinical Care Graduate of C-TEC

When I entered the Clinical Care program at C-TEC, I had no idea what Tech Prep was.  In fact, I didn't realize at the time that I was in a Tech Prep class.  As I learned about Tech Prep I realized what it could mean to mean in regard to my future.  I was able to eliminate courses from my Plan of Study and I was able to get my STNA before I graduated from high school.  I especially liked the projects we worked on, the hands-on activities, exhibits we visited as a class, and the autopsy we were able to attend.  Hands-on learning is how I learn best so this was the perfect program for me.

When I graduated from high school I immediately started attending Central Ohio Technical College (COTC).  Since I already had already earned some college credit while in high school, I was ahead of my classmates.  I also started working as a Student Worker in The Gateway and joined Tech Prep Connection, a group for former Tech Prep students who are continuing at COTC.  Our group participated in community service activities, hosted professional development workshops, and  hosted social activities on campus.  One of the highlights was  being able to present at the National Tech Prep Conference in Dallas, Texas.  This was my first time at a conference so it was a great experience for me.  Our presentation was about our Tech Prep Connection group and it was well-received by the audience.  I was also able to attend other sessions and met a lot of great people.  The city was great and I did not want to leave.  I hope to visit Dallas sometime again in the future.  It is so different from Ohio and everyone was so nice and friendly - it made the experience even better.
